The La Palma Chess Club schedule
Spring Session 2013 (April 5 through June 14, 2013)
Entry Fee
$45 for the Spring session (includes all three tournaments). Or, $40 for the 2013 La Palma Club Championshipt; $25 for Chess Final Exams; and $TBD for the Ladder Match Night.
All fees $5 less for players under 18 or La Palma residents.

Tournament Detail
2013 La Palma Club Championship
A 7–round Swiss in one section.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes:
1st. place, $600 and club champion title
2nd. place, $300
3rd. place, $150
Perfect 7-0 score: $100
Best game, $25 as judged by IM Jack Peters,
Trophies for best under 1700, best under 1500, and largest rating gain. Biggest upset, $20.
Time control: Game/120, d/5
Byes: Two half-point byes may be taken. An irrevocable last round half-point bye is allowed only if declared before the first round starts.
Chess Final Exams
A 3-round Swiss in two sections. Sections will be based on ratings and the list of entrants halved before
round 1. Later entrants will be paired into the section covering their
ratings.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Prizes:
Upper section: 1st. place, $50
Lower section: 1st. place, $50; and special prize for best under 1500
Either section:
Special prize for largest rating gain
Time control: Game/120, d/5
Byes: None.
Ladder Match Night
A 1-round ladder match night. No Swiss round this night due to conflict with
the National Open in Las Vegas.
Registration: 6-7 p.m. Rounds start at 7 p.m.
Time control: Game/120, d/5
Byes: None.
